Skyrim is the explorer’s game, a game with a big and nice looking landscape full of dungeons and treasurers and interesting looking towns and castles.į:NV is the city boy’s game, like F1 and F2 is a game focused more in the towns, and in what happens in them: original quests, funny characters, plots, factions fighting, etc.Īll good info so far, thanks. Both are open sandboxes of course, but F:NV is more oriented in fewer but well done unique hand crafted content.į:NV is a better RPG than Skyrim, in terms of writing, characters, player choice and reactivity. Stealth is similar in both, from what i remember.į:NV is “smaller” than Skyrim, which has a wealth of almost-too-much content. RPG balance is good, Obsidian have tons of experience doing RPGs. Not as good as a true fps, but Skyrim’s melee combat is also not as good as a game focused only in that. Mechanics are pretty solid, F:NV gun combat is enhanced from Fallout 3 combat.

A bit worse because the outdated technology, and on top of that a tad worse because the art department is a step behind. I love both Skyrim and F:NV, but I think that F:NV is the better game. I definitely suggest playing with this mode enabled. As opposed to Skyrim’s “go anywhere you want we’ll just make everything the same level as you lol” approach.Īlso, F:NV has some really great macro systems such as “hardcore” mode where you have to find food and water. Question: How much of a step “backwards” will Fallout:NV feel after playing Skyrim? In terms of interface, graphics, game mechanics, etc.? Also, is the Fallout:NV world “less open” and significantly smaller than Skyrim? Again, I will be playing on the 360 so mods are not relevant.įallout: NV will look slightly worse than Skyrim, and it’s slightly more linear in respect to the fact that enemies don’t scale nearly as much as they do in Skyrim so some areas will be far too dangerous to go into. (I did play Fallout3 on the PC - I’m playing Skyrim and would play Fallout:NV on the 360.)

I never played Fallout:NV but I think I’d like to try it after Skyrim.

I’m still playing Skyrim after hundreds of hours, still finding things I missed in previous explorations, and still love it, warts and all.
